Coins and virtual currency

SharedBox Chess may use virtual coins for online and friend multiplayer entry. You may receive coins through a daily claim and, when available, optional purchasable packs.

  • Coin balances and ledger entries (claims, entry fees, win payouts, and purchases) are stored on our servers and linked to your account.
  • Virtual coins have no cash value outside SharedBox Chess and are not redeemable for real money.
  • If paid coin packs become available, payment details are processed by the payment provider; we do not store your full payment card number. We may receive product and transaction identifiers needed to credit coins and prevent duplicate credits.

Screenshots and short recordings

During a game, you may optionally create a screenshot or a short (~10 second) screen recording of your play.

  • Screen recording uses your browser’s built-in screen-share permission. You choose the tab, window, or screen to capture. You can cancel the prompt and continue playing without recording.
  • Captured images and videos stay on your device (browser download and/or your device’s share sheet). SharedBox Chess does not receive, store, or upload these files to our servers.
  • If you share a file yourself, the recipient app (not SharedBox Chess) may process that media under its own privacy policy.

Data security and protection

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information:

  • Encryption: passwords are securely hashed using bcrypt.
  • Secure sessions: session data is encrypted and stored securely.
  • Database security: our database uses secure connections and access controls.
